7 Rivers Farm
Funding Ministry Through Agroforestry
We are involved with sustainable farming using agroforestry, harmonising trees, crops, and animals interspersed on the same land, which is both ecologically and economically superior. We currently farm macadamia nuts and moringa, and in the future hope to farm coffee and tea tree (melaleuca).
Our hope is that the sale of products from the farm will fund our farm workers as well as the Thola Centre staff (Zulu Christian nurse, teacher, and social worker).
Right now on the farm, more than 50 local women are involved in a weekly Bible study and are receiving training in beadwork, knitting, and sewing.
We hope to also:
Develop training for men in welding, carpentry, and beekeeping to produce marketable products.
Develop a branch of “farming God’s way” to get people gardening again using what God has already placed in their hands.
Provide basic accounting and business planning seminars to help trainees get jobs or start up small businesses that can flourish in our community.
